Calling all rabbit lovers! Willow Haven is hosting a Rabbit Showmanship Clinic on March 15th at our facilites. This clinic will feature Fort Worth's Finest Rabbitry. Perfect for 4-H kids or anyone interested in learning about bunny care and showmanship. Mark your calendars!

Katie and Kendall Lisle have been a part of the rabbit hobby since 2003. Their love for rabbits started at a 4-H meeting and since that time has grown to be a significant part of their everyday lives. Together they raise nationally recognized Satin, Mini Satin and Crème d’Argent rabbits. As well provide thousands of market rabbits to 4-H and FFA students across the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and beyond. They co-own, with their parents, Fort Worth’s Finest Rabbitry based out of Bridgeport and Lubbock, Texas. Both sisters are 2 time graduates of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, where they graduated as certified agricultural science teachers. Katie is a licensed American Rabbit Breeders Association Registrar, and Kendall is the Texas Rabbit Breeders Association’s Chief Editor.

Program Agenda

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Registration  

- Participants check in and receive materials for the day.

9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Introduction to Rabbit Showmanship  

- Overview of showmanship and its importance in rabbit care.  

- Introduction to common vocabulary and terminology.

9:30 AM - 10:15 AM: Handling Techniques  

- Hands-on demonstration of proper handling techniques.  

- Participants will practice handling rabbits with guidance from experienced instructors.

10:15 AM - 11:00 AM: Posing and Presentation  

- Instructions on how to pose rabbits for showing.  

- Tips on how to present rabbits effectively in a show setting.

11:00 AM - 11:45 AM: Rabbit Care Essentials  

- Discussion on feeding, grooming, and overall care for rabbits.  

- Importance of health checks and regular care routines.

11:45 AM - 12:00 PM: Rabbit Stock Overview  

- Overview of different breeds and their characteristics.  

- Discussion on selecting quality stock for showing.

12:00 PM - 12:30 PM: Lunch  

- Enjoy a provided lunch while networking with other participants.

12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Question and Answer Session  

- Open forum for participants to ask questions about topics covered during the clinic.

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Showmanship Competition  

- Participants will showcase what they’ve learned in a friendly competition.  

- Each participant will demonstrate handling, posing, and presentation skills.

Awards Ceremony  

- Recognition of participants with awards for various categories, including Best Handler, Best Presentation, and Most Improved.
